The Attack on the Capitol and Other Challenging Moments: Talking with Students

January 13, 2021  / Bill Reynolds, PhD  / Tags: Teaching Resources, Election, Capitol

Like many of us, our students may be feeling unsettled by the responses of individuals and groups to the national election and by recent events at the Capitol. It is natural that students will bring their concerns to our classes, and it may be necessary and appropriate for us to be responsive to their concerns, even when these topics are not directly related to our content. Here are some resources you might find helpful if you wish to initiate a dialogue with your students or find yourself in the position of needing to respond to their concerns. Please contact the Lucas Center if you would like to discuss in more depth how to respond to difficult topics and 鈥渉ot moments鈥 in the classroom.
