When do I use MyVPN?

• • To access your office desktop:
    • Use MyVPN (Terminal Session) to connect to your office computer
  • To access Banner:

  • To access University network shares:

  • To access licensed software:
    • Visit the ITS Website > Software Availability List > - use to access FGCU software from anywhere

• If you need to access FGCU network resources while working from home or anywhere on your FGCU device, only use our approved VPN solution, .
• Make sure your home computer has the latest updates for its operating system and its virus and malware protection.

• Complete the annual mandatory cybersecurity awareness training.
• Avoid public WiFi, or immediately connect to FGCU's VPN after connecting to an open WiFi network.
• If you work with Restricted Data, please remember to keep following best practices while handling it. If you need a refresher, review Restricted Data and the Restricted Data Policy.
• Practice overall good cybersecurity hygiene while at home. For example:
  • Use strong passwords or pass phrases
  • Use antivirus software
  • Secure your home's wireless network
    • Change the default password
    • Set wireless encryption to WPA2 or WPA3 (see your device's manufacturer for additional information)
